I have been trying to design a similar high frequency isolated DC-DC converter to the one seen on the EPC9561 demo board. The plan is to implement the airgap using airgap spacers for the prototyping phase. Is there a material and brand that can be recommended for this purpose? Both in terms of thickness tolerance and heat resistance. The bill of materials does not state the specific material used and only says “Plastic Shim for transformer airgap thickness 100 um”.
Hello,
you can use polyimide tape for prototyping.
Several brands are available, and thickness is usually specified.
Please check the final inductance and adjust.
Best regards
Hello,
Thanks for the info!
The airgap I need is quite large and the thickest polyimide tape/sheet I found was 0.127mm. Of course, I can stack the tape but if there was any single material that could be used it would have been preferred.
