To whom this might concern,
I am writing regarding driving VCSEL with EPC21601.
I need to drive the laser at about 8 to10mA with data rate is about 8Mbps.
My questions are listed as follow.
With max rating of 15A driving current will this part be applicable to my application?
VLaser is spec’d at 5V min in the data sheet. I was wondering if 3.3V works? The VCSEL’s operating voltage is about 2V.
I was wondering if EPC21601 can “pre-drive” the laser at around 0.5mA?
Thanks much for your help going through the questions.
I look foroward to seeing your response.
Thank you for your questions regarding the EPC21601 for your VCSEL driving application. Here are the answers:
Yes, the EPC21601 is still applicable for your low-current application (8-10mA), even though it supports VLaser operation up to 30V with a 15A peak current. The high current rating means it can easily handle your required 8-10mA.
To confirm the laser diode’s performance in real measurements, we recommend using the EPC9154 Kit. This kit is designed for such evaluations and will help you accurately assess the performance.
Please follow the test guide provided with the EPC9154 Kit for your specific operating conditions.
